Regional tourism flows are becoming more and more important, especially as many NTOs de-centralise their operational and reporting systems. Recognising this fact, PATA is working with the authors of the destination forecasts – Professor Lindsay W Turner of Victoria University, Australia, and Professor Stephen F Witt of Surrey University, UK - to develop rigorous forecasting models to explain and better predict tourism demand at this level. In this new and separate report, regional forecasts to 2013 have been developed for Canada, China, Indonesia, Korea (ROK), Malaysia, Thailand and the USA, respectively.

In addition to the ground-breaking work being done in developing regional forecasting models, PATA is continuing to expand both the number of destinations covered and the depth of coverage within each of these destinations, these will appear in subsequent reports.
